Please apply for a new passport well ahead of your proposed travel, it can take up to three weeks to receive a new passport. The three weeks processing time is from the day you submit a completed application at interview. It is in your interest to apply for your travel document well before your planned overseas travel date. You can help minimise processing times by ensuring you provide everything we need when you lodge your application.
Priority processing service
If you need your passport in a hurry, you can use our priority processing service for an extra fee. If you pay the Priority Processing Fee (PPF), the passport will be processed within 2 working days. This service is not available for Frequent Traveller passports. Allow additional time for delivery and handling. Royal Mail can advise about delivery times in your area.
The priority processing service cannot be provided for children’s passport applications until full parental consent has been provided.
