We welcome applications from university students and recent graduates wishing to undertake a public diplomacy internship at the Australian High Commission in London.
We are currently seeking two interns in our Public Diplomacy Branch for Summer 2017. We would love to offer this opportunity to many ambitious Interns but we sadly have very limited space and our interns are usually on rotation for this reason. We are happy to consider all applications, however please note you may not be contacted until space in the department is available.
Internships allow university students with an interest in Australia’s international relations to gain an insight into the work of an Australian diplomatic mission. We aim to give you some exposure to different areas of the High Commission’s activities, with a particular focus on public diplomacy.
You will have the opportunity to work on large and small scale projects, from digital diplomacy and social media campaigns to Australian alumni engagement in the United Kingdom, cultural and sporting events, and other public outreach activities.
During your internship, you will be working closely with both Australian diplomatic and locally engaged staff.
Eligibility
Internships are unpaid and open to all nationalities. Travel costs, travel and living arrangements are the responsibility of the intern. Typically internships last between 8 and 12 weeks.
We are seeking interns who are undergraduate students (who have successfully completed at least 4 semesters of their course before starting an internship here), postgraduate students or recent graduates.
We can offer flexible hours depending on individual circumstances and university class schedules/course credit requirements.
You should be aware that the Australian High Commission cannot offer Certificate of Sponsorship for those applicants that require a Visa.
