2019 FEDERAL ELECTION
While an election has not been officially called, you can prepare!
- Check your enrolment with AEC: https://check.aec.gov.au/
- Enrol to vote while outside of Australia: https://www.aec.gov.au/Enrolling_to_vote/pdf/forms/overseas/er016osw.pdf
- If already enrolled, submit an Overseas Notification Form: https://www.aec.gov.au/Enrolling_to_vote/pdf/forms/overseas/overseas-notification-form.pdf
Unfortunately, the High Commission is not able to process AEC applications, or answer questions about your enrolment, or the electoral process. You can however, contact the AEC direct:
Post: Australian Electoral Commission
Reply Paid 9867 (international postage is required from the UK)
[your capital city]
Phone: +61 2 6160 2600
The High Commission traditionally opens a pre-polling centre two weeks before the polling date in Australia. We expect this to be the case in the 2019 federal election. Unfortunately, nothing can be confirmed until the election is actually called and the AEC and the High Commission agree planning arrangements.
If you follow the steps at the top of this page, you will automatically be sent a postal vote directly from Australia to your UK, or other address.
Voting from outside of Australia is NOT compulsory if you are not reasonably able to attend a voting hall. We recommend retaining evidence where possible.
This page will be continually updated with information as it becomes confirmed.
