Be prepared for the next federal election:

  1. Check your enrolment on the Australian Electoral Roll at: https://check.aec.gov.au/
  2. Register as an overseas elector with the AEC and you will be sent a postal vote directly from Australia to your address in the United Kingdom, or elsewhere if you choose. https://www.aec.gov.au/Enrolling_to_vote/overseas/index.htm

*** Voting from outside of Australia is NOT compulsory if you are not reasonably able to attend a voting hall in the country you are visiting/living. We recommend retaining evidence where possible. Evidence could be:

  • AEC Overseas Notification Form (see above links)
  • Copy of your UK Visa
  • UK immigration stamp of entry
  • Utility bill/bank statement for May, 2019
  • Rental agreement
  • Work contract
  • Travel bookings and/or flight itinerary for May, 2019
  • Evidence of operating in the UK community such as receipts, credit card statements and tickets for events/travel etc
