Passport services are temporarily closed: 

Due to the significant increase in COVID related cases in the United Kingdom and the national lockdown, the passport office is currently closed for routine appointments until further notice.

Update on passport arrangements


Due to the significant increase in COVID related cases in the United Kingdom and the national lockdown, the passport office is currently closed for routine appointments until further notice.

If you are an Australian citizen travelling to Australia, you are eligible for ‘undocumented uplift’, where travel to Australia is permitted without a current Australian passport.

If you have travel to Australia confirmed, please ensure you take all relevant identity and Australian citizenship documents with you to check-in at the airport. The following documents may assist you:

  • Expired Australian passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Australian birth certificate
  • Australian citizenship certificate
  • Australian letter of citizenship
  • If a dual national, foreign passport.

Please note that when you arrive at the airport, the check-in procedure may take a little longer than usual as the airline will need to contact the Australian Border Force to confirm your identity before boarding the plane. 

If your passport is expired and you do not have any urgent need for a new document we ask that you please hold off on contacting us until we open appointments in the future. 

If you have urgent and necessary travel in the next eight weeks, please email  [email protected]. We will aim to respond within two working days to discuss your options. 

Please include:

  • Your name
  • Your Australian passport number
  • Contact number
  • Date of travel, destination and reason for travel or need for a passport.

We are only scheduling a very limited number of emergency appointments.  If you are travelling to Australia, please refer to the instructions above regarding undocumented uplifts.  It is currently illegal to travel overseas for holidays and other leisure purposes, as such we are currently not booking appointments for this purpose.

Due to the unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic, these arrangements are subject to change and this page will be updated as new arrangements come into place.

We regret the inconvenience this may cause, but your safety along with the safety of our staff is our utmost priority in this difficult time.

Visiting our offices during COVID-19

  • You must have an appointment to visit our office.
  • To protect you (our clients), our staff and the wider community, from the spread of COVID-19, you will be asked the following questions prior to entering our office:
    1. Do you have COVID-19?
    2. Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
    3. Have you arrived in the United Kingdom from overseas within the last 14 days outside of the countries listed on the UK government website?

If you answer yes to any of the above questions and have not completed the mandatory self-isolation period, you will not be permitted entry to our office and will need to contact us via email or phone to discuss your options.

  • If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel the appointment by clicking on the link in your confirmation email.
  • Please do not bring any friends or family members to your appointment.  If you are applying for a child passport, both parents are welcome to attend, however, only one parent is required to lodge a child’s application if they are under 16. 
  • Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment – to ensure social distancing there will be limited seating in our reception areas.
  • You must bring and wear a mask.  We will ask you to remove your mask briefly to confirm your identity.
  • You must bring your own pen.
  • Please use the hand sanitiser located in the waiting area prior to your interview.

Your appointment

You must book an appointment; you will not be seen without one. You must bring a completed application form and supporting documents to your appointment. Incomplete applications will not be accepted and may cause you delays.
