Passport Services

The Australian Passport Office in London is now accepting all passport applications.

Please carefully read through the information below as some of our processes have temporarily changed.

Australian passport services in the United Kingdom have changed as the Australian High Commission transitions out of the UK national lockdown.

You will now have two ways to submit a passport application:

  1. If you have been issued with a 10 YEAR Australian passport since 2005, or you are applying for a child’s passport: You can post your application to the Passport Office, Australian High Commission, Strand, London WC2B 4LA.
    1. Mailed applications for an adult must include a completed application form, a photocopy of your most recent passport, two Australian standard passport photos (including one with your name written on the back) and a completed payment authorisation form.
    2. Mailed applications for a child must include a completed application form, certified copies of the lodging person’s identity documents, a certified copy of the child’s previous or current passport (if applicable) and a completed payment authorisation form. Please note: If certified copies are not available, you will be required to book an appointment.
    3.  Some passport applications are being processed in Australia. Your financial institution may apply an international transaction fee for payments processed in Australian currency.
  2. If you do not meet the above criteria: You will be required to book an appointment for a passport interview, which can be made here beforehand. When attending your interview, you must bring a completed application form and supporting documents.

Undocumented Uplifts

If you are an Australian citizen travelling to Australia, you are eligible for ‘undocumented uplift’, where travel to Australia is permitted without a current Australian passport.

If you have travel to Australia confirmed, please ensure you take all relevant identity and Australian citizenship documents with you to check-in at the airport. The following documents may assist you:

  • Expired Australian passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Australian birth certificate
  • Australian citizenship certificate
  • Australian letter of citizenship
  • If a dual national, foreign passport

Please note that when you arrive at the airport, the check-in procedure may take a little longer than usual as the airline will need to contact the Australian Border Force to confirm your identity before boarding the plane.
